Summary

Heart Of Glass is director Werner Herzog's most stylised film. A small village relies on a glass factory for it's employment (in much the same way as mining communities relied on the mines) and when the owner dies taking the formula for ruby glass (given to him by a wandering apocalyptic visionary) to his grave, the factory falls into decline then bankruptcy.
An allegoric tale told through some of the most intense performances seen on film, Heart Of Glass is a bizarre and compelling story told in a unique way by a master film-maker. The cast were put into a hypnotic trance each day to try and re-create a felling of mass hysteria. This film is crammed with stark, graphic, beautiful and disturbing images that will linger long after the film has ended...
